How is real hourly wage calculated?

Salary divided by total annual hours, work hours plus commute hours combined. Even with the same work hours, a longer commute lowers your real hourly wage.

Does this calculate my take-home pay after tax?

No, this is pre-tax salary only. Income tax and social insurance rules change yearly and vary by person, so they will be added once a shared tax module exists.

Are public holidays included?

No, only the vacation days you enter. Fold public holidays into that number if you want them counted.
